Sue hands out dolls

Sue hands out dolls to children at a church service in northern Ghana. "Church" for this congregation is a big tree in the middle of a cornfield.

Sue is close to awesome! (I try to reserve "awesome" only for God!) She has been to our past 2 mission conferences to work with the children in our church. The children just love her, as do many of the adults. Sue teaches the children about the people and the culture of many faraway places. She also teaches the children about the love of Jesus.

Sue makes learning fun. She always has a game or a story to share with the children. Sue has an absolute love for children and it shows in everything she does. She has great ideas and is not afraid to try new things. Sue is a definite asset to any children's programming.

The burden of Sue's heart is to simply be there at night to tuck in the child who has no father or mother to be there for them; to be the presence of God to children who have lived without much love. That's what I have seen motivate her when I have worked with her in Russia, and what has motivated her to travel around the world seeking out those who have lacked a loving touch.

Some are overcome by emotion when they see the plight of so many hurting children in the world, but their emotion never translates into action. Not so with Sue, whose tears have led to a costly and consistent commitment to both be present with those who are hurting, and to encourage and equip others to be there, too.

I have seen Sue work in camps and orphanages, with younger and older orphans, and always with a cultural sensitivity and a gospel faithfulness. I have watched her work through the various ways to respond to a situation until she finds the response that best meets the need. I have seen her make a difference time and time again. And I know she will continue to do so, wherever that takes her and whatever that requires.

She is an encouragement to me in my service to others for Christ, and I'm sure thats true for many others.

Sue is lovingly determined to share God's saving grace in numerous ways. She tackles whatever challenge is presented to her with kind steadiness and an unceasing touch of humor. She loves, especially, to share God's kindness and mercy with children. Her perseverence will take her to difficult but blessed places and she will see God's hand extended to the least of these.

Through her ministry with the Global Resource Team, Sue was a wonderful “temporary” addition to our team in Kazakhstan. She is self-starter, seeing needs and finding ways to meet them. Sue approaches her work as an encourager, acknowledging others’ gifts and seeking to equip and strengthen them. Her experience in children’s ministry around the world helped us gain new insights about our work here and about possibilities for change and growth.

As director of The Global Resource Team, with The Mission Society, I have the pleasure of working with Sue. I have found Sue to be extremely ambitious, very talented and willing to go the extra mile in helping the poor of the world. It is not often that someone takes on as much responsibility and initiative as Sue is known to do. Her ability to work across multiple cultures is unique and a skill not often found. Sue has demonstrated, through her work in Africa, Central Asia and Peru, an ability to work across cultures, motivate others and be a team player with missionaries, indigenous groups and international churches. Sue Kolljeski is a definite asset to any team."

Sue has demonstrated a passion for children at risk that has taken her around the world, serving in many different contexts. Sue has always been eager to be where the needs are greatest, willing to overcome whatever obstacles that come between her and where she feels God is leading. I am excited to see how He is now leading her to focus on the situation of children in Northern Ghana. Her combination of passion, energy, and skills will truly be of service to the Ghanaians as they address the issues of AIDS and children in that region.
